Hi there!

My name is Anna,

I'm the owner and lead photographer of Vellichor Photography.

Education and Experience

I started studying photography in high school before moving on to study Photographic Sciences at the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York where I studied technical photography, lighting techniques, optics, post processing, portraits, high speed photography, micro and macro imaging, and lots more! I graduated in 2023 with a BS in Photographic Sciences and promptly hauled my life and boyfriend across the country for an exciting new job opportunity.

For the past few years, I've worked as a High Speed Photographer in the Bay Area. At work, I engage in optics planning and execution while also shooting lots of PR content in a fast-paced and high-stakes environment.

Vellichor

Definition

n. the strange wistfulness of used bookstores, which are somehow infused with the passage of time—filled with thousands of old books you’ll never have time to read, each of which is itself locked in its own era, bound and dated and papered over like an old room the author abandoned years ago, a hidden annex littered with thoughts left just as they were on the day they were captured.From vellum, parchment + ichor, the fluid that flows in the veins of the gods in Ancient Greek mythology. Pronounced “vel-uh-kawr.”

The term was coined in 2013 by John Koenig in his book The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows. It is a beautiful collection of unique and strange words that aim to capture the emotional intricacies of being human.

My goal is to help tell your story through strange and wistful photographs that capture exactly who you are in this moment.

I had the pleasure of working with Anna while she photographed me for her school projects, and the experience exceeded every expectation. From the very beginning, Anna created a calm, welcoming environment that immediately put me at ease. What started as a bit of shyness quickly transformed into genuine laughter and confidence, thanks to her thoughtful direction and natural ability to connect with her subject.

Anna has a truly magical touch behind the camera and an artistic eye that feels both fresh and intentional. Her perspective is unique, and she approaches each moment with creativity, care, and professionalism well beyond her years. She doesn’t just take photos: she captures emotion, personality, and authenticity in a way that feels effortless and sincere.

Every moment of the session felt purposeful, and it was clear how passionate she is about her craft. Her talent, creativity, and attention to detail made the entire experience enjoyable and meaningful. Working with Anna was absolutely worth every second, and I would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for a photographer with vision, heart, and exceptional skill.
